A Walk In The Woods

On Sunday 20th May there was a walk to the Blackberry slopes area of Reddish Vale Country Park. The walk was led by Anne and Eric both experts on British wild flowers. The aim of the walk was to see if we have the British BlueBells or the Spanish ones on Blackberry slopes.

Along the way we discovered many plants and flowers and learnt how to identify them and also how they smell, like the Giant Hogweed which smells like..... I'll let you find that one out yourselves!.

Blackberry slopes is a SBI Grade C site where you can find Yellow Pimpernel, Marsh Marigolds, Angelica and many more plants and flowers, oh yes the BlueBells, ermmm, we arrived a bit to late and most of the Bluebells had finished flowering, but what Bluebells there were Eric said they were all the British Type.
