JUBILEE COURT OUTING

At the invitation of the Tame Valley Defence Group, seven of the residents at Jubilee Court were treated to a picnic in Reddish Vale Country Park. Anne, our relatively new warden, was on hand to help Barbara, Margaret and Ted to ferry the ladies from their homes to the Vale and to help with the brewing up. It only takes a smile from Anne to make people feel welcome and valued. Our ladies were soon settled by the pond and had the foresight to bring some bread for the ducks. The swans were all absent, obviously on the river and could possibly meet up with the missing cygnet.

However, those who could walk were shown the Community Garden and they were very impressed with the work that the Green Gym had carried out there. Seeing the Butterfly Field and learning that it was a factory site for for such a long period impressed them. In addition, they saw the back pond and the Visitor Centre. By this time they were ready for a cuppa and a scone or cake and a biscuit. After that they again sat by the ponds and had a natter until it was time to go home. They all enjoyed it and were looking forward to coming again. One or two said that they would ask daughters or sons to bring them down. One lady, who had never been into Reddish Vale before said she could hardly believe that such an oasis existed in Reddish.

We should be able to put names to all the faces in the photographs but we can remember only Audrey, Anne, Norma and Dolly. Maybe someone could let us have the names of all the ladies by the ponds. Next time we will make sure that we know who's who.
