Loreto College Visit
By Anne Litherland
On the 20th March 2007, 25 students and five staff from Loreto College, Hulme, Manchester visited Reddish Vale.
They were met at Brinnington station by Stockport Rangers Lee, Darren and Anne Litherland. The walk to Reddish Vale was taken at a brisk pace as a health walk.
The students spent an hour at Reddish Vale Farm and then the rest of the day in the Country Park.
In the Visitor Centre they made fat balls (bird food) with the help of Jean from Stockport Local

RSPB and dream catchers with Tracy and Mary's help.
After lunch they tried their hands at orienteering with the help of Jennifer from Greater Manchester Orienteering Group. The students rose to the challenge and easily beat the staff, (thefact that the staff had a harder course could have had something to do with it).
The orienteering really helped the group to work and get together. The college offers a range of days out to mark their founders day and so the students were from many different departments and did not know each other.
It was a very enjoyable day and could not have been possible without our fantastic volunteers: Mary, Tracy, Jean, John (who staffed the Visitor Centre), Jennifer and Barbara and Margaret (who cleared up the aftermath). Thanks also to Hayley from Stockport Rangers for helping walk the group back in time for their return train home.
