Folk Train Outing

Saturday 26th July

As the video shows, the once-a-week train was filled almost to capacity with the Friends of Reddish South Station and their supporters.

We stayed outside the bar, on the station platform, listening to the jollifications inside because we had youngsters with us, so we took the opportunity to chat

with the regular Stalybridge travellers. We were also able to satisfy their

curiosity about the "invasion."

They were travelling all over the place. Some were going to Manchester, of course and some were going in the opposite direction on the trans-Pennine route.

One couple were going to Cornwall with huge cases on wheels, via Manchester, of course, where they had to change. It was just like Reddish South in the olden

days. This is really what we need for Reddish, a regular link to the rail network.

Are we really asking so much?
