Green Space Poverty

The National Trust has issued the results of research carried out in the wake of

the PLANNING DISASTER Look it up on the web!

They have discovered that a quarter of people living in urban areas suffer from

Green Space Poverty. This affects health and well-being and causes depression.

People who live in urban areas are more likely to think that spending money will help

  them to feel better.

We in Reddish and Brinnington do not need to suffer in this way. We have the Vale,

all 398 acres of it and, if we look after it, our children and their children will have it too.

Sir William Proby, chair of The National Trust said:

"The public has told us that the National Trust should work more in partnership with

communities to protect and look after their green spaces and stand up for the

importance of greenplaces to people's quality of life."

The Government pushed through the Planning Reform that weakens local councils and

communities trying to protect green spaces. Some of you signed the petition that was

signed by 5 million people all over the country against it.

If community greeen spaces are threatened, the Planning Reform will be challenged

by the organisations that formed the coalition against the Planning Disaster.

Reddish and Brinnington people are proud of our communities and our lovely Vale
